Filtration of new additions to the RePEc database

Filtration service is a part of the personal I-Robot that allows users to establish permanent monitoring of new additions to the RePEc/Socionet database. Unlike customisation, filtration enables a through tracing of new/updated publications based on several parameters (authors names, codes of thematic classifier and general keywords). This tracing is carried out independently for each parameter in all series.

This service guarantees that the user does not miss certain publications in the database (for example, publications authored by certain persons). Filtration can be used as an additional (to customisation) tool for content management of the Information-Channel aimed at filling it with new thematically selected publications (explanations).

Filtration report is automatically created by the I-robot with periodicity specified by the user. The report is stored in the user's personal zone (see option "View all current reports" in the SPZ menu). The report can also be delivered to the user e-mail address (see the menu of "Filtration parameters" subsystem).

The "Filtration parameters" menu includes two specific parameters: a) periodicity of reports and b) e-mail delivery. These parameters are of lower priority than those in the "I-Robot Report Manager", since the former operate until the user specifies the analogous parameters in the latter (see instructions). Once production of integral report in "I-Robot Report Manager" has been turned off, filtration reports are delivered independently (in some cases this is combined with delivery of customisation reports).

Important note: Upon setting or reconfiguring the filtration parameters, you should press the "Save parameters" button in the filtration menu. Then, using the command "Create Trial Report" you can test filtration with the given parameters. When producing the trial report, the system will filter publications only for the period specified by the user in the report periodicity field (e.g. if weekly filtration has been ordered, filtration service will proceed all new additions over the last seven days, starting from the current date).

The time required to generate the trial report is proportional to the number of author names, classifier codes and keywords specified. As soon as the trial report has been completed, the system displays the list of tasks and a link to the report.

One can check what might have been filtered over the whole lifetime of the database using the regular search option. To this end, one should set each filtration parameter independently in the appropriate field of the form and start search (in the regular search routine, if three parameters are run simultaneously, the publications satisfying all parameters are sought).
