Customisation, as one of the content management tools of the SPZ Information Robot (I-Robot), makes it possible to create thematic collection of series from the RePEc/Socionet database. This service allows a user to exclude parts of the database of no interest from periodic look-up of new additions and thus reduces the body of information to be run through. Customisation can also be used to fill the Information Channel with new thematically selected publication. In addition, the thematic collection of series can be placed on the SPZ user personal site in order to create a speciality-oriented information resource. Any user can set up a system of prompt dissemination of scientific information and research results to his/her colleagues, if an opportunity of free subscription to notifications of new additions to the collection of series is built in his/her personal site.Customisation results are available to the user as a table of selected subset of series, which includes the titles of sections to which the collections belong, the number of series selected in the section and the number of new/modified publications that appeared in the series over the last 24 hours. The numbers are linked to the list of series and further to the list of documents in the series.
The table of customised series is updated by the I-Robot as soon as new/modified publications appear in selected series. The table is stored as customisation report in the user’s SPZ (see option "View all current reports" in the SPZ main menu). The table can be sent by e-mail and incorporated into the user's personal site (see Personal Site Instructions).
There are two buttons for e-mail delivery of reports in the Customisation menu: 1) deliver by E-mail to the SPZ user; 2) deliver to subscribers to notifications through the personal site interface (see "Personal Site" Instructions).
If the first option has been turned on, the procedure operates until the "I-Robot Report Manager" (see this option in the SPZ main menu) is activated. The e-mail delivery mechanism in the Customisation service is of lower priority than that in the "I-Robot Report Manager". Once generation of integral reports by I-Robot has been turned off, the delivery of customisation reports to the SPZ user triggers off automatically (in some cases, this is combined with delivery of filtration reports).
If the option of delivery to subscribers is “on”, the customisation report is distributed to all members of the list of subscribers as soon as new additions appear in the customised series. New members can join the list, even without participation of the personal site holder, if the appropriate subscription form has been built in the personal site (see Personal Site Instructions).
